Police are appealing for information after a man "touched himself inappropriately" in front of a teenage girl on a Tube train.

British Transport Police (BTP) today released an image of a man it wants to speak to in connection with the “indecent incident” on the Northern line.

It said a man boarded a northbound train at Camden Town and sat opposite the girl, 16.

BTP said in its appeal: “The girl noticed the man then put his hands down his trousers and touched himself inappropriately for around three minutes.”

He is believed to have left the train at Woodside Park. It happened at about 1pm on August 26.

The appeal comes after new figures showed the number of sexual assaults reported on the Tube have soared by 42 per cent in the past four years.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 687 of August 26, 2019. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
