Police appeal as man dies in hospital two days after serious crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in hospital two days after a serious car crash.

The man, in his 70s, was driving a Vauxhall Meriva which collided with a Fiat 500 at around 12.55pm on Wednesday, February 2.

The crash occurred near the junction of Clay Brow Road and Carfield in Skelmersdale, near Wigan.

The Meriva driver was rushed to hospital but died in hospital two days later on February 4.

Police are now calling for anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch.

Sgt Martin Wilcock, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Very sadly the man involved in this collision died two days after he was admitted to hospital.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision itself, or who has any CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.”
