Police appeal after woman has handbag snatched in Newcastle underpass

Police have launched a CCTV appeal after a woman had her handbag snatched in a Newcastle underpass.

A 21-year-old woman was walking in the underpass at Swan House roundabout in the early hours of Sunday, June 2 when she was approached by someone.

She was pushed to the ground before having her handbag stolen.

The young woman was not injured as a result of the incident.

Enquiries to identify the person responsible are ongoing and police have now released a picture of a woman they need to trace.

It is believed she could have information that will assist the police investigation.

The woman, or anyone who knows her, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 175 02/06/19.

You can also report it on the Northumbria Police website or email the investigating officer on  8756@northumbria.pnn.police.uk .
