Police appeal after wilful fire-raising at Hamilton building site

Police are appealing for information after a wilful fire on a Hamilton building site at the weekend.

Officers are seeking the help of the public following the fire within houses currently under construction just off Tyndrum Crescent at 6.45pm on Sunday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mamanged to successfully extinguished fire, however officers say extensive damage has been caused at the site.

Police are treating the incident as deliberate and say they are looking to speak with two youths seen in the area at the time.

Detective Constable Ryan Cairney of Lanarkshire CID said: “We are treating these fires as deliberate and are keen to identify and speak to two youths who were seen in the area around 6.40pm.

"One is aged about 15/16 years, was white, of slim build, red coloured hair, about 5’ 5” tall and was wearing light coloured jogging bottoms and a dark coloured top.

"The second boy was aged 16/17 years, again white, medium build, with dark short hair and was dressed all in black clothing.

"Anyone who has any information which might assist in this inquiry is asked to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference 3225 of April 25. Anyone wishing to pass on any information while remaining anonymous can do so through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
