Police appeal after "vulnerable man" assaulted

A vulnerable man has been injured and left badly shaken by an assault at commercial premises in Co Tyrone .

Police probing the incident in the Dromore Road area of Omagh on Wednesday (Oct 2) are appealing for witnesses.

The hurt 35-year-old is reported to have been assaulted by a transit van driver described as wearing dark clothes with dark brown hair.

The PSNI’s Constable Holmes said: “At approximately 2.20pm a 35-year-old vulnerable man was assaulted by another male described as having dark brown hair and wearing dark clothes. He was driving a white Ford Transit.

“As a result, the man suffered minor injuries and was left badly shaken after this distressing incident.

“A 29 year old male was arrested and subsequently released on bail.”

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact officers at Omagh on 101, quoting reference 1060 of 02/10/19.
