Police appeal after two houses broken into and raided in Glasgow suburb

Police are appealing for information after two houses were broken into and raided in Easterhouse.

At around 5.30am on March 11 a man forced his way into a property on Duntarive Grove and made off with a three-figure sum of cash, along with items of sentimental value.

Police Scotland say the suspect is described as a teenager, around 5ft 6 of slim build and was wearing a red North Face windbreaker style jacket.

In a second incident at around 1am on March 22, a man matching the same description entered a property on Boyndie Street and stole a key before being chased off by the occupant living there.

Officers are appealing for information and have issued a security warning to the wider community.

Police constable, Richard Lewis, Easterhouse police office, said: “People should feel safe in their own homes and this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities. We are treating both of these incident as linked and will do everything we can to find the person responsible.

“It may be that there have been similar incidents in the surrounding area which have gone unreported and we would urge people to remain vigilant and contact police if they have any information.

“We would also remind local residents to make sure their doors and windows are locked overnight and when your property is empty. You can find information on home security on our website here.”

Anyone with any information should contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 0418 of Monday 11 March 2019. Alternatively you can contact CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
