Police appeal after thieves smash open ATM and steal cash inside in Bollington

Thieves smashed open an ATM and stole cash from inside, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of a 'loud bang' coming from outside the Co-op, on Wellington Road, in the village of Bollington.

Police discovered a cash machine located outside the shop had been forced open and cash from inside was stolen.

Two men were seen fleeing from the supermarket after the incident.

They could be seen running across Wellington Road and towards a track leading into Middlewood Way.

Both men were wearing hoods and had covered their faces.

One of the pair was dressed in shorts.

Detective Sergeant Keith Graham, of Macclesfield CID said: “Our investigation into this incident is in its very early stages and we are currently trying to establish exactly how the offenders accessed the machine.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and as part of this we want to hear from anyone with any information which may aid our investigation.

“The same goes for anyone who believes that they may know who the offenders are, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them arriving at or fleeing the scene.”
