Police appeal after serious crash involving two bikers on Highland road

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash involving two bikers on a Highland road.

A 49-year-old man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries following the collision on the A894 in Sutherland on Saturday.

The incident happened near Duartmore, north of Kylestrome, at around 12.10pm.

Both bikers were riding BMW R1200s and travelling in opposite directions.

A 47-year-old man riding the other bike was uninjured.

The road was closed for around four hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Police Scotland said the injured biker's condition was "serious but not life-threatening" and are asking anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.

Sergeant David Miller of Highland and Islands Road Policing said: "We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances leading to this collision.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch."
