Police appeal after pensioner struck by car in Johnstone

Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was knocked down in Johnstone.

The 75-year-old man was crossing Thornhill at around 4.35pm on Friday afternoon when he was struck by a Mercedes car being driven by a 60 year-old man.

Police and ambulance attended and the OAP was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is being treated for his injuries. 

Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Constable Steven Kirkwood based at Renfrew Police Office is appealing for information.  He said:  “Our enquiries are continuing into this crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash-cam to contact us, as they may have information that will assist our ongoing investigation.

“Information can be passed to Renfrew Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2434 of Friday, 20 March.”
