Detectives are appealing for information after a man tried to rob two school kids with a weapon.
A 14-year-old schoolgirl and her male friend, also 14, were approached on a footpath on Wednesday, April 24, at 10pm on Range Road, Motherwell near to the junction of Morven Drive, by a man wearing a black mask holding a hammer or mallet.
He threatened the children demanding money but they were able to run off to a nearby house seeking assistance from the householder.
The suspect is described as being around 6ft 1 and wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
Police, who are treating the incident as assault with intent to rob, are appealing to anyone in the area at that time or so anyone acting suspiciously to contact Wishaw CID quoting Incident 4474 of the 24th of April.
