Police are appealing for information after a man was rushed to hospital in Edinburgh following an attack near Dalkeith.

The incident took place between 6am-7am on Sunday 2 February Bryans Wood, in the Newtongrange area

A 29-year-old man was attacked and suffered injuries to his chest, face and hand as a result of the assault.

A member of the public stopped to help the victim in the Bryans Road area and he was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

The attack sparked a search of the area and officers are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to get in touch.

Detective Constable Jack Wall of Dalkeith Police Station said: “Our enquiries into the full circumstances of this incident continue and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything, or were aware of any disturbances in the area at the time, to get in touch.”

Those with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 1120 of 2 February, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
