Police appeal after man ‘punches seagull’ on St Ives beach

  • Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly seen punching a seagull on a beach in St Ives , Cornwall.
  • The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday after the bird swooped on the man's food.
  • A witness described the man gripping and repeatedly punching the seagull, leaving it in “extreme shock” with a “sizeable rupture on its chest”.
  • Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to intentionally kill or injure any seagull.
