Police appeal after man in 20s 'stabbed in chest'

A man in his 20s is being treated in hospital after sustaining a "stab wound to the chest" on Wednesday.

Police say the incident took place in at a home in Michael McCreesh Park, Forkhill on August 19.

Officers in Newry are appealing for information.

Detective Sergeant Johnston said: "We were notified by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, just after 7.15pm, that a man had sustained a stab wound to the chest.

"The man, aged in his 20s, was transferred to hospital where he remains receiving treatment to injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was subsequently released unconditionally.

"Enquiries are ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1778 of 19/08/20.”
