Police appeal after items thrown from bridge near M74 motorway services

Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for witnesses following an incident where items were thrown from a bridge above the M74 near to junction 11.

The incident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday, July 6, near to Cairn Lodge Services.

No-one was injured during the incident but a car did sustain damage as a result.

It's the third incident of its kind on the M74 this year, with one driver previously telling us he was "lucky to be alive".

PC Jim Dewar told Lanarkshire Live: “Throwing items from a bridge where there are moving vehicles below is an extremely dangerous and reckless act which could have seriously injured someone.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any knowledge of the incident or anyone who was driving in the area at the time, who may have witnessed any unusual activity to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with a dash-cam to check back and see if they have any footage which may assist us.”

Anyone with any information can contact police on 101. Information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
