Police appeal after dog dies in hit and run incident

Police are this week appealing for witnesses after a dog died after being struck by a car in Chapelton on November 20.

Officers say at around 10.15am that morning the dog, named Jerry, slipped his harness and walked onto the roadway on Glasgow Road, Chapelton.

A few seconds later an electric blue 4x4 possibly Jaguar vehicle was travelling at speed and struck the dog.

Police Scotland say the vehicle stopped further down the road and then drove off in the East Kilbride direction, failing to stop and provide details.

The area was busy at the time with vehicles and other dog walkers however nobody else has come forward to report this.

The dog died as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Please, if you have information regarding the incident, contact 101 quoting incident  1634 of 20/11/20.”
