Police appeal after Denman alleged indecent assault

INVESTIGATORS are seeking public help as they investigate an alleged indecent assault in the Hunter Valley.

Police said they were told the 16-year-old was walking along Macauley Street at Denman about 9.40pm on February 15 with an infant in a pram when she was approached from behind by three people near the Hunter Street intersection.

Police said the trio, believed to be a woman and two men, are alleged to have pulled the teen to the ground by her hair and kicked several times "before a male touched her inappropriately".

The teenager freed herself and fled with the infant before receiving help from a nearby resident.

Authorities were called and the teenager and infant were taken to Muswellbrook hospital.

The child was not physically injured.

Hunter Valley police on Tuesday called for anyone who had seen or heard anything in the vicinity between 9pm and 10pm on Monday February 15 or who may have security cameras to call 1800 333 000.
