The cyclist, in his early 20s, left the scene on foot and his bike was later recovered from the area.

A statement published on the Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Police Division Facebook page this morning (Sunday) reads: "We are appealing for witnesses following a crash between a cyclist and a car in Paisley.

"He is a white man in his early twenties, with a slim build and dark hair, and was wearing dark clothing at the time.

"His bike was recovered at the scene."
