Police appeal after cash taken from man, 89, in Central Coast scam

ASSIST: Police believe this man can assist with their inquiries.

A SCAM that cost an 89-year-old man thousands of dollars is at the centre of a police appeal for public help.

Tuggerah Lakes investigators said a man posing as an electricity worker attended a Bateau Bay address about 10am on November 9 and gained access to the man's house and telling him he owed a power debt.

The man visited a sum of cash and handed the cash to the man in the rear car park of the Bay Village shopping centre.

The younger man left in a white utility similar to a Toyota Hilux.

Police are seeking help to find a man caught on camera who they said may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as caucasian, aged in his 30s and 178cm tall with reddish short hair and beard and a medium build.

He was last seen wearing an orange hi-vis shirt and light-coloured pants.
