Police appeal after car set alight in Wishaw street in the early hours

Police have started an investigation after a car was set on fire in a Wishaw street.

Officers were called to the blaze in Avon View at 5am on Saturday, July 13, and discovered the red Skoda Octavia was set alight.

No-one was injured in the incident and police have started door-to-door enquiries.

Inspector Martin Spiers, from Motherwell Police Office, has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “It was daylight when the incident took place so I am appealing to anyone who may have seen someone in the area looking suspicious to notify police.”

Meanwhile, officers are also hunting thieves who broke into a home in Shotts over the weekend.

The crooks raided the home in Dyfrig Street.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents can contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
