Police appeal after car set alight in Wishaw street

Police are appealing for information after a car was set on fire in Wishaw.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in or around Netherton Road just after midnight on August 10 when the white Citroen ‘13 plate, which was parked in the driveway, was set ablaze.

The householders were sleeping at around 12.20am when they heard a noise outside their home.

When they looked outside they saw the vehicle’s roof on fire and a suspect fleeing the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : “This was a frightening experience for the householder so we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

“The suspect was wearing dark clothing and was seen making off on foot and is believed to have got into a silver vehicle and left the scene.

“Thankfully the fire was extinguished before there was any real damage.

"However, it could have been a lot worse.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
