Police appeal after broad daylight attack in Blantyre car park

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in broad daylight in a Blantyre car park.

Around 1.50pm on Saturday afternoon (November 30), a 34-year-old man was assaulted on Morven Avenue near to the entrance to Coatshill Avenue Car Park, Blantyre.

He sustained serious facial injuries and attended Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, where he was treated and has since been released.

Detective Constable Stuart Burnside, Cambuslang CID, said: “Unfortunately at this time we don’t have a description of his attackers, however, we are checking local CCTV and have been back at the scene to speak to people who live in the area.

“There are a couple of shops in the street and it can be quite busy that time of the day, so if you were at the shops or the car park on Saturday afternoon, and saw the attack take place, then please give us a call.

“From our enquiries we don’t believe this was a random attack, however, it doesn’t matter who was involved or why it happened, to do this in the middle of the day, in a busy area, is reckless and others could have been caught up in it.

“If you have any information that you think my help our enquiry, including for example dash-cam footage from the area between 1 pm and 3pm on Saturday, then please contact Cambuslang CID via 101 quoting reference number 2261 of Saturday, 30 November, 2019.

“If for any reason you wish to give the information in confidence, then contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Additional officers will be in the area.”
