Police appeal after birds nest destroyed in Nottingham's Highfields Park

Police have released photographs of two men in a canoe they want to speak to after a birds nest was destroyed at a Nottingham park.

The incident happened at Highfields Sports Ground, University Boulevard, on July 22 at around 5pm.

The force's wildlife crime team have reviewed the incident and are investigating.

Police would like to speak these two men pictured in connection with the incident.

Wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham took to Twitter to call on police to investigate the incident.

He said: "We all know that the police are stretched and we sympathise and try to support you when we can, but we need to send a clear message that wildlife crime is a crime. So is there any chance you could have a look at this incident please?"

The tweet received more than 1,000 retweets and 1,900 likes.

If you recognise the men please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident 766 of 22 July.
