Police appeal after attempted break-in to Alyth charity Elder Voice

Would-be thieves have tried to break in to a charity in eastern Perthshire.

An attempt was made to break into Elder Voice in Alyth at some point between 2pm on Monday, March 2 and 9am on Tuesday, March 3, less than a month after a previous break-in attempt.

Although the door was damaged, nothing was stolen.

Police officers investigating the incident are now appealing to members of the public to help them with their inquiries.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland’s Tayside division said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information about an attempted break-in in Alyth.

“Sometime between 2pm on Monday, March 2 and 9am on Tuesday, March 3, an attempt has been made to force entry to the Elder Voice charity premises in Commercial Street, Alyth.

“Although the door was damaged, it appears that it held sufficiently to prevent those responsible from gaining entry, and nothing was stolen.

“You may recall a similar incident happened at these premises on February 11, but we are not considering these incidents to be linked at this time.

“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.

“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Our reference is incident 0674 of March 3.”
