Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was pelted with eggs by a gang of young yobs in Wishaw.
The 86-year-old woman was sitting on her doorstep in Kirkhill Street, Netherton on Sunday at around 7pm, when a group of eight youths began throwing eggs at her.
The woman was left "shaken" by the incident, and police are asking members of the public with any information about the attack to come forward in a bid to identify the culprits.
Sgt Jim Mutter, from Wishaw police office, said: “It was a sunny night and the woman was sitting on her doorstep when this incident took place.
“She was spoken to by officers and her family have been reassuring her but it was very distressing for her.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have spotted a group of youths in that area to come forward.
“We have noted a number of issues in the Netherton area with youths gathering over a number of weeks. We will be checking CCTV and increasing patrols.”
