Police appeal after 16-year-old boy attacked in 'sectarian hate crime' in North Belfast

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses after reports a 16-year-old boy was attacked in a 'sectarian hate crime' in Belfast.

The attack is reported to have taken place at around 9.30pm on Friday at the junction of Deerpark Road and Old Park Road in North Belfast.

Inspector Nick Browne said: “The victim was attacked by four males who punched and kicked him, and directed sectarian abuse towards him.

“Two of the men were described as being dressed in black and had their hoods up.

“The victim sustained a broken nose and a fractured jaw, and was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.”

Police in North Belfast are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to come forward and by contacting the PSNI on the non-emergency number 101.
