- A police force has apologised after officers handcuffed fatally injured Henry Nowak, 18, despite him telling them he had been stabbed, following an incident in Southampton.
- The officers' actions occurred after Vickrum Digwa, who was later found guilty of Nowak's murder, falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist attack by Nowak.
- Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s temporary Deputy Chief Constable, Robert France, apologised, saying officers did not immediately understand the severity of Nowak's injury, though they provided first aid within minutes of engagement.
- US tech billionaire Elon Musk has offered to fund a private prosecution against the force.
- The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is currently investigating “the contact Hampshire and Isle of Wight officers had with Mr Nowak”, including the use of handcuffs and the first aid provided.
