A Quick thinking police helicopter pilot managed to drop buoyancy aids to help a man who had got into trouble in the water near Barry island pier, South Wales, early this morning.
Police have praised the teamwork and lighting fast responses of the National Police Air Service (South West), eagle-eyed Vale of Glamorgan Police officers who spotted him in the water and the RNLI in saving a man who had got into difficulties in the dock area of Barry island.
Thanks to the combined efforts of officers sent to rescue the casualty, the stricken male was kept afloat in time for the deployed RNLI volunteer crew to rescue him and get him to safety.
The casualty was treated by paramedics on land in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, October 9).
Police tweeted at 4.14am: "Quick thinking by Barry officers to locate male & @NPASSouthWest who deployed flotation devices mid-air to male struggling to stay afloat by old Harbour pier.
"Allowing enough time for @RNLIBarrydock to rescue the casualty. #MultiAgency #KeepingValeSafe"
