Police and paramedics rush to scene after pedestrian hit by vehicle on Newcastle road

A pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle on a Newcastle road.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Forest Hall Road, in Benton, on Sunday at 3.19pm.

Around 10 police cars were on the scene and the road was closed while officers attended.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “There has been a road traffic collision with a person involved.

“The extent of their injuries is not known at the moment.

“The road was closed but has now reopened.”
