Police and forensics scrambled after attempted armed burglary in Droylsden

Police and forensics were called to a street in Tameside this morning after an attempted armed burglary.

The incident happened on Greenside Lane in Droylsden just before 1.20am.

Police said two men armed with weapons tried to burgle an address.

Nobody was injured in the incident, the force added, and nothing was stolen.

An investigation into the 'isolated' incident is underway.

Pictures taken earlier today showed one police van stationed near a row of shops at the scene.

A crime scene investigation van was also pictured parked up on the road.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "We were called shortly before 1.20am on Wednesday 8 December to a report of two men with weapons attempting to burgle an address on Greenside Lane, Droylsden.

"No one was injured during the incident and nothing is believed to be stolen.

"It is believed to have been an isolated incident and detectives enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information should contact police online, if able, or call 101 quoting incident 135 of 08/12/2021.

"Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
