Police and firefighters in Southville after man falls from church roof

A man had to be rescued by emergency services after falling a church roof at the weekend.

The incident happened at St Paul's Church in Southville.

Fire crews and police have confirmed they were called to the incident just before 6pm on Saturday, August 8. All three emergency services present at the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Temple fire station were mobilised to assist police and ambulance crews on Southville Road, Southville at 17:51.

"On arrival, firefighters found one male casualty had fallen and sustained minor injuries.

"Firefighters used one turntable ladder and a two-line rescue system to assist the casualty.

"Firefighters handed the casualty to ambulance crews for treatment and to be conveyed to hospital."

All the emergency services were present at the scene (Avon Fire and Rescue)

A police spokesperson added they were present at the scene to help assist ambulance crews with the casualty.

South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
