Police officers and family members were able to rescue a man stood on the wrong side of barriers on a bridge over a busy Leeds bypass.
Just before 11am today (January 1), West Yorkshire Police were called to a report of a man on the bridge over the Stanningley Bypass in Bramley , Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police officers went to the scene to engage with the man, in his twenties, and members of his family were also offering support.
At 12pm it was confirmed the man had moved to the right side of the railings.
Duty inspector Tom Harrison said he was then helped by police to find emergency support for mental health issues.
The Leeds-bound carriageway of the bypass was temporarily closed by police during the incident.
