Police and the bomb squad were called to a property in Salford tonight after residents in the area reported hearing a huge bang that shook their properties.
Greater Manchester Police were called to a house on Bradden Close in Salford, near to Clarendon Park, at around 9.26pm on Monday night.
The area surrounding the property was cordoned off as a precaution and specialist bomb disposal experts were called in.
Images taken at the scene show a silver Ford Fiesta with damage to its rear bumper.
Pictures showed a considerable police presence behind a large cordon running up to Clarendon Park and soldiers inspecting a circular object on the ground.
Police have confirmed there are no injuries. Crime Scene Investigators are also at the scene.
A GMP spokesman said: "I can confirm there's an incident on Buckingham Street in Salford.
"We were called at 21.26 and the surrounding area has been cordoned off as a precaution.
No injuries have been reported. It's an ongoing police incident."
GMP said they would be issuing a further statement later.
Social media was awash with reports of a loud bang just after 9.19pm this evening.
@Emlops wrote on Twitter: "Anyone hear a massive what sounded like an explosion that shuck their home a little bit in Salford? Not far from Media City? Was crazy loud and a little scary!"
@TheSalfordKid wrote: "What’s was that explosion in Salford just then very loud."
A number of explosions and loud bangs in the Salford area in recent months have turned out to be industrial fireworks.
