Dec. 12--Police are alerting residents about two robberies Monday evening in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side.
The incidents occurred within four blocks of one another and involved offenders stealing the victims' backpack or duffel bag and hitting them, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.
The first incident happened about 6 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Sheffield Avenue, according to the statement.
Three offenders robbed the victim. The first suspect is a black man who is about 25 years old and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He weighs about 200 pounds and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
The second suspect is a black man who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has a dark complexion. He wore a black skullcap and a black jacket. There was no description available for the third suspect.
The second robbery occurred in the 3100 block of North Racine Avenue about two hours after the first one, the statement said.
In that case there were two robbers. One is described as a black man 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 170 pounds and with short hair. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
Before the incident, a resident reported two suspicious black males near Barry and Kenmore avenues. They were wearing long dark trench coats, and one was wearing an Irish-style flat cap.
