Police advise residents to close windows after chemical spill in Bellshill

Police are advising residents to keep windows closed after a chemical spillage at Crossgates in Bellshill this morning.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service and Police Scotland rushed to the scene this morning to contain the incident.

The spill has been cleared and there is no longer a risk to any members of the public.

However, those who live near the area have been advised to keep their windows close for the rest of the day as a precaution.

The roads surrounding this area have now been reopended.

If any members of the public have any concerns they can contact Bellshill Police Office on 101 and quote incident number 0655 of the 19th April.
