Police advise people to stay away from Helen's Bay and Crawfordsburn

Police are telling people to stay away from Helens Bay and Crawfordsburn this evening.

The PSNI has released a statement advising people who are wanting to visit the beauty spots to stay away, as they have now reached capacity.

Translink have also said that they will no longer be issuing train tickets to anyone wanting to travel to either location on advice from the police.

Police have warned that they are patrolling the area and any anti-social behaviour will be dealt with in a "robust manner".

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are aware of large numbers of visitors to Crawfordsburn Country Park and Helens Bay this evening.

"Both beauty spots are now at their capacity and police are taking this opportunity to advise members of the public not to travel to either location and we have liaised with our partners in Translink.

"While everyone is entitled to visit these beauty spots police will be on patrol to ensure the safety of the public and any anti-social behaviour will be dealt with in a robust manner.

"We welcome everyone to our beaches and parks in North Down. They are very popular spots to visit every year, however local police will be proactively patrolling these areas and anyone breaking the law will be identified and dealt with appropriately.

"We would also call on all visitors to be mindful of the wishes of local residents, and not create noise nuisance or act in an intimidating manner towards the local community."
