Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson has told of her heartache at the end of the five-year working relationship with Aidan Turner.
The actress, 27, said: “I love Aidan. He has been a huge part of my life. A great friend.
“We have a very fun relationship, are fiery with each other – staying true to our characters – and I will really miss working alongside him.”
In the fifth series, which starts on July 14, their characters Ross and Demelza face problems when Ross is hired as a spy by the British government – and he keeps it secret from his wife.
Tomlinson said: “Demelza is excluded – he doesn’t tell her what’s going on to protect her.
“There comes a moment where Demelza is thinking of leaving. It is up to Ross to convince her of his love for her and persuade her to stay.”

Turner, 36, said he also felt nostalgic as he rewatched clips from the first series, which aired in 2015.
“Eleanor was singing in the parlour and we all look so young. It is when I reflect on moments like those that all the emotions come in,” the star admitted.

Viewers will see Ross’s arch nemesis, George Warleggan, traumatised following the death of his wife Elizabeth in the last series.
Actor Jack Farthing, 33, said his character’s suffering had been “a challenge” to portray, with medics shown trying to treat George’s “madness” with ducking and by locking him up.
He said: “I did a lot of running around in my nightie this series in the chilly weather.”
- Poldark, airs on BBC1, on July 14, at 9pm.
