Poland gets its very first Primark store as new shop opens in Warsaw

Primania has come to Poland as the very first store opens today.

Budget retailer Primark, which operates as Penneys in Ireland, opened the swish new store in the capital city of Warsaw.

The new shop is located in the Galeria Młociny shopping centre and its opening has created 250 jobs.

Emer O’Connell, the Irish Ambassador to Poland attended the opening event as guest of honour on Wednesday and welcomed Primark to the Polish market.

The impressive shop spans 3,660 square meters of retail space across two floors with 30 cash desks, 35 fitting rooms and free Wi-Fi throughout.

Customers can browse to their hearts' content with the store stocking women’s, men’s and children’s fashion collections, including footwear and accessories, as well as lingerie and homeware.

They can also shop Primark’s ranges of products made using sustainable, recycled, and organic materials, launched as part of the Primark Cares initiative.

And Covid-19 safety measures are in place throughout the building with designated employees responsible for managing queues at tills and entrance to store and clearly marked entry and exit points.

Hand sanitiser stations will be made available at the store entrance for customer use and perspex screens have been installed on open tills to protect customers and employees.

And weary employees can enjoy their breaks in comfort in a 'Recharge cafe' with a kitchen area and bright décor.

A spokesperson said: "This space is designed to feel like a home away from home for employees."

Paul Marchant, Chief Executive, Penneys/Primark, said:"We are delighted to open the doors of our first store in Poland, our 13th international market, and to offer our amazing fashion at amazing prices to customers from Warsaw and beyond.

"We are incredibly proud to see our growth into new markets continue across Europe and I would
like to thank all our colleagues who have been working hard to ensure we are ready to welcome our customers to shop in a safe environment for all."

The new store brings the total number of Primark shops to 382 across 13 international markets. Primark first entered the Central and Eastern Europe market in 2019 with the opening of a store in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The company intends to expand further in Poland, with a second store planned for Poznan, in 2021, as well as two stores in Czech Republic (Prague in 2020 and Brno in 2022) and a store in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2022.
