"Pokémon" fans are once again showing off their creativity with a brilliant concept for a regional Houndour variant and a possible new evolution. The fan-made design has drawn attention for its eerie appearance and Indonesian mythological inspiration, prompting fans to imagine what a new Houndour evolution could look like in a future game like "Winds and Waves."
Shared as an original fan creation, the concept gives Houndour a distinctly ghostly appearance. You will never see a familiar canine Pokémon, but a creature surrounded by an unusual, cloud-like aura that gives it a mysterious and almost supernatural presence.
Houndour Evolution Concept Draws From Indonesian Mythology
One of the most interesting elements of the fan concept is its connection to an Indonesian story about a cursed god who takes the form of a dog. That mythological influence adds depth to the design and offers an intriguing foundation for a regional Pokémon inspired by local folklore.

The concept also introduces a potential Houndour evolution named Houndgloom. Fans have responded positively to the name, with some noting how well it matches the Pokémon's dark and haunting appearance.
Combining "Hound" with "gloom" immediately evokes the image of a shadowy canine surrounded by supernatural energy.
Could Regional Houndour Be a Dark/Ghost Pokémon?
The proposed typing has also become a major point of discussion among fans. Dark/Ghost is one of the most obvious possibilities, particularly given the Pokémon's ominous design and its connection to curses, spirits, and the supernatural.
Others have suggested Fire/Ghost as an alternative. Houndour is already associated with the Fire and Dark types, so giving a regional form a Fire/Ghost typing could create an interesting variation while still maintaining a link to its original identity.
A Fire/Ghost-type canine Pokémon would certainly stand out in the series. It could give Houndour a fresh identity while introducing a supernatural interpretation of its established fiery traits.
Houndgloom Could Be an Interesting New Houndour Evolution
A regional Houndour evolution based on spirits or curses could also open the door to a distinctive design and lore. Its abilities, Pokédex entries, and evolution method could potentially draw further inspiration from the mythology behind the concept.
We will never know if this is the start of a new world with supernatural entities.
Is This New Houndour Evolution Official?
For now, the design remains entirely fan-made and is not an official Pokémon announcement. There is currently no confirmation that Game Freak or The Pokémon Company is developing a regional Houndour variant or an evolution called Houndgloom. But it's still great to see it come to life in the future.
Last week, some fans wondered if Gen 10 is the perfect era for Psyduck to shine. The duck Pokemon remains one of the most popular creatures in the manga and anime, but it doesn't receive the same treatment in games.
Golduck is a decent Water evolution, but it's rarely used in competitions. Fans think that "Winds and Waves" could give a big boost to the beloved Pokemon by giving it a new evolution. The expected new typing will be an Ice/Psychic Psyduck.
