'Pokémon Winds and Waves' Fan Creates Alternate Zweilous Evolution: Is it Good or Bad?

A fan-made Zweilous evolution concept has started a new conversation among "Pokémon" fans on Reddit.

The "Winds and Waves" artwork has received plenty of attention. Some fans love its unusual look. Others are not convinced that the design would work as the next stage of Zweilous' evolution.

What's Its Inspiration?

The original artwork was shared as an original creation (OC). The artist explained that the concept was partly inspired by the naga, a mythical serpent associated with Indonesia.

The idea was chosen because the naga is one of the mythical dragon creatures connected to Indonesia that is often portrayed with multiple heads. That detail also fits the general theme of Zweilous and its evolution line.

Instead of designing another intimidating dragon, however, the artist went in a completely different direction.

The result is a much sillier and more playful Pokémon concept.

'Pokémon' Fans Have Mixed Reactions to the Zweilous Evolution

The fan-made Zweilous evolution quickly attracted different opinions from the Reddit community.

Some fans praised the artwork. They particularly liked the colors, shading, and overall silhouette of the design. One commenter even said they could imagine the concept becoming an official Pokémon for "Winds and Waves," but not everyone agreed.

Other fans complimented the artist's skill but said they would not want the design to become Zweilous' official evolution. The concept also led to a discussion about how a new evolution could fit into the existing Deino family.

The Deino evolution line already has a clear numerical theme.

Deino is linked to the German word for "one." Zweilous is based on "two." Hydreigon represents "three."

Because of this connection, some fans believe any new evolution would need to preserve the idea of multiple heads or continue the numerical theme in some way.

Fans Compare the Design to Other Characters

The unusual appearance of the fan-made Pokémon also became a major talking point.

Some Reddit users compared the design to Exeggutor. Others said it reminded them of Zak and Wheezie from "Dragon Tales."

One particularly harsh comment compared the artwork to a rejected beta Pokémon concept. Still, the criticism was not entirely negative.

Another fan described the design as so strange and "derpy" that it became cute. The concept also inspired jokes about the Pokémon's potential moves.

One commenter jokingly suggested that Twister could be its only move.

Could Zweilous Get Another Evolution?

While some fans rejected the concept, others were more open to the possibility of a new Zweilous evolution.

One suggestion was to introduce the Pokémon as an early-game evolution around level 35. It could remain weaker than Hydreigon while giving players another way to develop the Deino family.

Other fans thought a regional variant or convergent form for the entire Deino evolution line would make more sense than adding a split evolution.

For now, there is no indication that the fan concept represents an official Pokémon design.
