Pokémon TCG Pockets’s new Ho-Oh and Lugia-themed set launches July 30

Pokémon TCG Pocket has revealed its next big expansion set, with the mobile TCG community getting cards based on Johto later this month. The set is called Wisdom of Sea and Sky.

The A4 set was officially revealed during today and not during the Pokémon Presents stream like many trainers assumed it would be, in a brief trailer, showcasing some of the cards coming in the new set, alongside the usual array of new rare cards to find.

The reveal shouldn't be too surprising, as Pokémon TCG Pocket has been getting monthly set releases for some time now, with the occasional small set to fill in time between these larger, multiple pack expansions.

Like with usual sets, you'll be able to open two packs based around Lugia and Ho-Oh, with each pack having its exclusive array of cards to find. The short trailer has already shown off a bunch of new stuff for the pack, including a Ho-oh and Lugia ex card, a bunch of new trainers, and some shiny new rares to find if you are so lucky.

In a strange twist, it looks like Ho-Oh and Lugia ex work together, with Ho-Oh ex's attack effect adding a Fire, Water, and Electric-type Energy to one of your backline, while Lugia ex uses those Energy types to use its attack, and then needs to discard them afterwards. Whether or not the deck will be a powerhouse or a gimmick remains to be seen.

Other new cards shown off seem to all revolve around adding cards or Energy to your bench, with a Shiny Gyarados card also teased to be coming. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the set still, though, so only time will tell if anything takes off in Ranked play.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Wisdom of Sea and Sky set launches July 30 and will be live around 2 am CT for everyone to start opening packs at the same time. If the pack follows the same release formula as previous ones.
