Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to get all three starter Pokémon

Like most Pokémon games, Pokémon Legends: Arceus begins by asking you to choose one of three different starters: Cyndaquil, Oshawott, or Rowlet. The starter you pick will accompany you on your adventure across Hisui, but the two remaining ones will head back to Professor Laventon’s lab with him.

The thing is, unlike the vast majority of other mainline Pokémon games, getting the other two starter Pokémon is actually pretty easy. Because of this, you won’t have to find a pal willing to part with their partner just to fill out a page in your Pokédex.

Here’s how to get all three starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Professor Laventon

Getting all three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is actually pretty easy. Obviously you get the first one when you choose it at the beginning of the game. This will allow you to register it and both of its evolutions in your Pokédex, although you’ll still be missing six entries for the remaining starter families.

Throughout the game, all three starter Pokémon can be found in space-time distortion fields, which are purple, semi-spherical areas that sporadically appear in the overworld on occasion. You can find all kinds of powerful Pokémon in these fields, including all three Hisuian starters — if you’re interested in shiny Pokémon, you’ll be glad to know they aren’t shiny-locked, either.

If you’re having no luck with space-time distortion fields however, fear not: Just like Legends: Arceus gives you a guaranteed encounter with a shiny Ponyta, you’re also guaranteed all three starter Pokémon.

After you finish the main story in Pokémon Legends: Arceus — this is signaled by the credits — all you need to do in order to obtain the starters you didn’t choose at the beginning of the game is head over to Professor Laventon’s lab in the Galaxy Team HQ. This is to the left of Cyllene’s room, and is where the Request blackboard is located.

If you’ve finished the main story, speaking to Professor Laventon will prompt him to give you the two starters you didn’t choose when you initially set out on your adventure. We chose Cyndaquil, so Laventon gifted us both Oshawott and Rowlet. Now they’re all best buds.

It’s as simple as that. While you can find all three starters in space-time distortion fields, it’s probably easier to just get them off Laventon after you finish the game.
