Pokémon GO won't be available for seven whole hours on June 1

Pokémon GO's servers will be offline for maintenance, but only for seven hours on June 1.

Naturally, a lot of people are playing Pokémon GO due to being stuck inside thanks to the coronavirus lockdown, which means they are going to be suffering from this downtime.

Niantic announced on Twitter that it needs to take the game offline for server maintenance, which means the game will be unavailable worldwide for a time.

This is the first time since 2016 that Pokémon GO will be offline entirely for maintenance because they had to completely rework how gyms functioned in the game.

That moment became a meme for the whole game, with many people replying to the tweet with 'nostalgic' remarks harking back to when the servers were last taken down.

Niantic didn't explain any more about what might be happening during the maintenance, but players are hopeful that it means lag issues will be fixed along with multiple other bugs that have reportedly been in the game for a while now.

For the rest of the world, this could be a painful time for the servers to offline, but us lucky people in England will see the servers go offline at 7 pm until 2 am on Tuesday. USA players, on the other hand, will suffer the outage from the morning until early evening.

Suffice it to say, people have a lot of feelings about the servers going down.

Time to do something else?

A different day would be better?

The infamous loading screen could make a triumphant return...

Prepare yourselves, if you were planning to play some Pokémon GO on June 1 you might need to make other arrangements.

At least Niantic has given us a lot of time to anticipate it. Regardless, there's plenty else you can do to get your Pokémon fix, like stream the original Pokémon series on Netflix (if you're in the UK, that is).
