Pokémon GO Spring 2020 event: what's coming this week?

Spring has sprung and it's time for a new Pokémon GO event (Picture: Pokémon)

Springtime can only mean one thing for Pokémon GO fans — a brand new event.

The Spring 2020 Pokémon GO event brings with it a flower-crowned Buneary and increased numbers of egg and spring-themed Pokémon appearing in the wild.

Pokémon eggs will also become a little eggs-tra special too, as Pichu and Togepi will hatch from them, sporting fancy flower crowns.

This Spring event is also continuing in line with guidance from governments around the world to stay indoors, and to this end, all of the Spring events can be enjoyed in an individual setting.

Players will be getting half the distance to hatch and egg when they're placed in incubators until further notice, so turn on the Adventure Sync setting and make every step count.

When does the Spring event begin?

The event will kick off this Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 8 am and it will run until Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 10 pm local time.

What will the Spring 2020 event involve?

During the event, the following Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild: Exeggcute, Chansey, Mareep, Marill, and Torchic. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Exeggcute.

You'll also find Buneary wearing flower crowns and Pikachu wearing flower hats appearing in the wild — and these could also be shiny variations too.

The following Pokémon will be hatching more often from 2 km eggs: Pikachu wearing a flower crown, Togepi wearing a flower crown, Happiny, Munchlax, Tyrogue, Chingling, and Riolu.

All eggs received from Gifts during the event will be 2 km eggs, so you don't have to be galavanting around outside, flouting the rules during this coronavirus lockdown we're experiencing.

There will be event-exclusive Field Research tasks that reward encounters with Alolan Exeggutor, Azumarill, and, if you’re extremely lucky, Audino.

Hope you're ready for an eggs-cellent time in Pokémon GO.
