Gaming fans can experience an official Pokémon GO event in Liverpool this year.
Pokémon GO Safari Zone is a real-world celebration coming to three cities across the world - and it’s heading to Sefton Park next month.
Trainers can hunt for the popular augmented reality characters while exploring Liverpool ’s famous Sefton Park.

Last year, Niantic Inc joined forces with Liverpool City Council's Culture Liverpool team to bring the event to the UK for the first time ever.
Liverpool was handpicked along with two other locations - Philadelphia and St Louis in the US to host the event which was supposed to take place over the Easter holidays in 2020 but the event was eventually cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the date is now set for Pokémon GO Safari Zone, which will take over Sefton Park from Friday, October 15 to Sunday, October 17.
A statement on the Pokémon GO Live website reads: “We’re excited to announce that this Safari Zone event will take place with several modifications made to ensure safe gameplay.

“Ticket holders are invited to either join the in-person Safari Zone event hosted in Sefton Park or participate in event gameplay from wherever they are in the world!
“All event content is limited to those who have purchased tickets. No additional tickets will be sold. In-person attendees will need to RSVP ahead of the event.
“City Explorer Passes will be refunded in full. Stay tuned for more info.”
While many Pokémon Go fans will likely descend on Sefton Park next month, for those who can’t there’s still a way to play. According to the Pokémon GO Live website, ticketholders can take part “no matter where they are in the world”.
Ticket holders will be able to enjoy the following features, whether they participate in an in-person event or play globally.

Featured Pokémon will be appearing in the wild and attracted to Incense.

You’ll be able to complete event-exclusive Special Research and Field Research tasks.

Incense activated during event hours will last for eight hours.

Lure Modules activated during event hours will last for four hours.

Special 2km Eggs will be available.
It’s important to note that all ticket holders who would like to join an in-person event must RSVP to ensure a safe, distanced gathering. Ticket holders will receive an email with more information on how to RSVP soon.
The City Explorer Pass experience, which was sold as an additional experience for the original event, has been removed from the event and those who purchased it will be refunded. Niantic will initiate all refunds by October 2, 2021.
In a final note on the website, organisers said: “We’re working closely with local authorities to design safe event experiences, implementing precautions such as careful line management, social-distancing protocols, and mask requirements for all staff members.
“When planning your Safari Zone experience, please follow all health guidelines and pay attention to any travel restrictions. If these events must be postponed again due to governmental guidance or direction from local authorities, we will notify ticket holders as soon as possible.
