The month of May has brought with it a host of new Field Research Tasks to complete in Pokémon GO, offering a bunch of new rewards and an encounter with a special Pokémon.
As always, spinning PokéStops will give players Field Research Tasks to complete, with each stop giving a task once a day.
Once you've completed seven tasks, you'll be rewarded with an encounter with Shinx, an electric-type lion Pokémon, as well as getting items such as Stardust and bonus experience.
You'll be able to battle and capture Shinx from today, May 1 until June 1, and you'll also get Shinx Candies to help power it up.
Completing all other individual tasks this month will reward you with other rare variants of other Pokémon, too. Rare appearances of Aerodactly and Chansey can be rewarded for completing tasks as well as items including Rare Candy and Golden Razzberries.
According to the website the Silph Road, these are some of the current Field Research Tasks and the rewards, as of May:
- Hatch an egg - Electrike encounter
- Catch 5 Pokemon with Weather Boost - Vulipx or Poliwag encounter
- Catch 3 Water, Electric, or Bug Pokemon (Raichu)
- Catch 10 Pokemon (Magikarp)
- Catch a Dragon Type Pokemon (Dratini)
- Catch 3 Electric Pokemon (Electabuzz)
- Win a level 3 or higher raid (Omanyte or Kabuto)
- Win a Raid (Jolteon)
- Win in the Go Battle League (Blitzle)
- Battle Another Trainer (Alolan Geodude)
- Give Your Buddy 3 Treats (Mareep)
- Power Up a Pokemon 5 Times (Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squrtle)

For some unknown reason, it seems that Team GO Rocket has been extremely quiet lately, so from May until the end of September, there’ll be no new Team GO Rocket Special Research available.
