Pokémon GO lets you remote raid with your friends — here's how to do it

Remote raid with your friends in Pokémon GO's new feature (Picture: Pokémon)

Attention Trainers, Pokémon GO has finally added a function to remote raid with your friends.

The feature is slowly being rolled out as of July 15 and initially, it was only available to Trainers who were level 40.

Since the announcement, this cap has been brought down to level 32 and we can probably expect this threshold to continue to lower.

Until now, you have only been able to invite your friends to Raids when in person. However, this update allows your friends to join regardless of their location.

Further to this, the current number of people able to join a Raid Battle remotely has been boosted from 5 to 10.

Niantic announced the good news on Twitter:

Here's a guide from Niantic on how you can start raiding remotely with your friends and take on some super-powerful Pokémon together.

How to invite your friends to a remote raid

First of all, you need to join a public or private Raid lobby and to have a Remote Raid Pass item if you are not close to the actual raid.

After that, in the Pokémon GO app, you'll see an 'Invite Friends' option on the right side of the screen.

Carefully select the friends you want to invite to raid. You can only invite 5 people at one time, but after a cooldown, you can invite more to the lobby.

Once the invites are sent out, your friends will get a notification about the raid and will be able to join you.

After accepting the invite and getting into the lobby, tap on the Battle button to ready up.

Trainers with child accounts can only use this feature if their parents or guardians opt into enabling social features through the Niantic Kids Parent Portal.
