T.J. Maxx is one of those stores that sells literally anything. But when it comes to their margarita mixes, customers might want to steer clear.
In a video that has amassed 2.2 million views, Sadie Woodhouse (@sadiewoodhouse) shared a cautionary tale after her TJ Maxx margarita mixer had disastrous results. Sharing a picture of the margarita mix in action, Woodhouse said via on-screen text: “I’m really sorry that I made a margarita from TJ Maxx and poisoned everyone.”
As foreboding music played in the background, Woodhouse then shared footage of the margarita mix in action. She intercut this footage with screenshots of several of her friends’ text messages. They revealed that the resultant margaritas made multiple people sick.
“Cici and I both threw up hella,” one wrote. “Me too,” another added. While a third dubbed the mix the “margarita of despair.”

What did they think of food from T.J. Maxx?
In the comments, some users were baffled that people were buying T.J. Maxx beverages at all. “First mistake was buying anything you can eat or drink in a TJ Maxx,” one commenter wrote.
“Guys, TJ Maxx just sells food for photo shoots and stuff, please try not to eat more than you need to get the shot,” another insisted.
While a third said, “My BFF who worked at TJ Maxx for years said to never ever buy any of the food/candy/drinks because they didn’t sell somewhere else for a reason and were most likely expired.”
Elsewhere, a fourth said that they had a similar experience, writing, “Oh my GOD I USED THE SAME THING FROM TJ MAXX AND ALSO VIOLENTLY THREW UP?”
As well as this, a fifth added, “OMG I had one of these and it was so awful it was like the worst thing I ever drank.”
While a sixth shared, “I looked at this in TJ Maxx about a month ago, heard this song play in my head as I considered getting it, decided not to and would like to thank you and your friends for your sacrifice and service to my morbid curiosity.”

Several T.J. Maxx employees don’t take ‘no’ for an answer
Dodgy margarita mixes aren’t the only reason T.J. Maxx has gone viral. The brand recently caused shockwaves on TikTok after one shopper claimed that multiple employees hounded her in an attempt to get her to purchase the TJ Maxx credit card.
In the viral clip, Ashley (@ashleydarkmoon) declared that she was “done shopping” at T.J. Maxx. “I am so [expletive] sick of cashiers trying to throw the credit card down my throat,” she said.
Ashley then went on to recount how she said ‘no’ to the first employee. But another kept trying to change her mind, even asking her, “Why not?”
Based on this insistence, it was speculated that T.J. Maxx employees are trained not to take ‘no’ for an answer. This is even when this insistence looks like it might alienate customers more than anything else.
