'Pointless' street signs cause confusion for neighbours

Street signs dubbed 'pointless' and a 'waste of money' have sprung up on a Merseyside street.

The signs have been erected on Dawpool Drive in Bromborough, and residents have been confused as to their purpose. A no entry sign already existed near the entrance to the street, yet a new sign was placed directly behind it- with the new sign almost completely hidden by the old, dirty sign. As well as this a new one way sign was erected in front of an existing one.

Some people have taken to social media to share their frustration at the 'waste of money' installation. One person said: "Wow now that is a ridiculous waste of time and money!"

While another person added: "How pointless, the other sign is right behind it." However some have offered a possible explanation for why the signs have been erected.

One person said: "I think they might have put up new signs as they are going to take the old ones down soon, not sure though."

A spokesperson for Wirral Council said: “The sign needed replacing and a new ‘no entry’ sign has now been put in place. We are currently waiting on our electrical supplier to carry out the work to swap connections from old to new sign, at which point we will remove the old sign.”
