Pointless' Richard Osman shares first picture from wedding to Doctor Who actress

Pointless' Richard Osman has shared the first picture from his wedding to Ingrid Oliver at the weekend.

The TV presenter and author, 51, married the Doctor Who actress after two years together.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Richard wrote: "The most magical, joyful day on Saturday with my beautiful wife @ingridoliver100.

"Surrounded by wonderful friends and family, a day full of love and laughter. We're so, so happy."

The couple married at Goodwood House, the Duke of Richmond’s seat in West Sussex, not far from where Richard grew up in the county.

Leaving the opulent ceremony room, the blushing bride beamed in a stunning white gown with a fitted silhouette and flowing train.

Meanwhile, Richard is dashing in a blue suit with a red rose pinned to his chest.

The popular quiz show co-host met Ingrid, 45, when she appeared on House of Games.

Telling the story on This Morning, Richard said: "Ingrid came on House of Games. I knew who she was through social media. We'd never met – I had never met her. I had a little twinkle in my eye, I'll admit that.

"She came on, we filmed that day together. Our first date is completely on camera. After filming, I was thinking, 'How can I ask her for a drink, this is difficult.'"

The father of two also revealed that a fellow guest, Matthew Pinsent, suggested that they all go for a drink, and Richard said: "And I thought, thank you!"

In a previous interview with Lorraine Kelly, he added: "It's going to be a very un-showbizzy wedding, just with all our school friends. I can't wait."

The couple sparked engagement rumours earlier this year when Ingrid was spotted wearing an emerald ring on her finger.

Celebrity pals rushed to congratulate the happy couple.

Newsnight host Victoria Derbyshire wrote: "A. MAZE. ING. So many congratulations to you both! How wonderful."

Aled Jones wrote: "Congratulations to you both x"

Chelcee Grimes added: "Congratulations Richard!!!!"

The happy news follows Richard announcement that he is leaving Pointless so that he can focus more on writing.

Richard revealed his departure via a tweet to his 1.1m followers in April.

His first novel, The Thursday Murder Club, released in 2020, became the third best-selling hardback of all time in the UK.

“SOME NEWS! After 13 wonderful years I'm leaving daytime Pointless, to concentrate on writing," he wrote.

“Will still be doing the celebrity shows and 'HouseOfGames'.

“It has been the GREATEST pleasure and I can't wait to start watching as a viewer. Thank you to everyone!”

He added: “Will miss the whole team, especially the incomparable @XanderArmstrong.

“Thank you to everyone who watches, it really has been a dream, and I know the show will continue to go from strength to strength.”

At the time of Richard's announcement, his co-host Alexander said of the news: "Daytime television's loss is international best-selling crime fiction's gain. I say that like it's a consolation - I'm going to miss the big man next to me Monday to Friday.

"But at least I still get him at weekends - and weekdays if you're watching on Challenge."

Earlier this year, Richard revealed he wasn't paid a penny for the first four series of the hit quiz show.

He co-hosted the BBC quiz series alongside his friend Alexander Armstrong from episode one in 2009 until this summer.

But when the show first started, he decided against taking a pay cheque until it became a success because he was one of the bosses of Endemol UK who produced the series.

He said: "I didn't get paid for the first four series or so of Pointless because I was the creative director of the company and I did feel like it wasn't appropriate.

"Until series four we didn't have a hit and I was still doing my job. To me [hosting the show] was a fun hobby."

He continued: "But from the second series, me and Xander [Armstrong] were able to talk a bit more and the ratings started picking up. There was something about that relationship, the casualness and gentleness of it, that I think people liked."
