Pogues' Shane MacGowan's wife asks 'for prayers' as singer taken to hospital

Shane MacGowan's wife has asked fans to send prayers after the singer was taken to hospital.

The Pogues frontman has been hit with health problems over recent years. The Fairytale of New York singer broke his pelvis in 2015 and has since used a wheelchair.

The 64-year-old has been married to Victoria Mary Clarke since 2018. Victoria has taken to Twitter to ask for fans support as she shared an update on her husband's health battle.

She said: "Please send prayers and healing vibes to @ShaneMacGowan in hospital again and really hoping to get out asap!! Thank you"

Victoria told the Irish Mirror that Shane was admitted to hospital last Friday. She added: "I’m definitely hoping he gets out this week," "He’s a bit frustrated, I think. He finds it very frustrating… he wants to get out."

Victoria also revealed her husband is recovering as she added: "Please don’t get too worried. I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Fans flooded the comments of Victoria's tweet to issue messages of support.
